A military reporter came to the town of Privolie in the Luhansk People’s Republic which came under control of Russian-led forces. The locals described cries committed by the Ukrainian Nazi Tornado battalion since 2014.
On July 11th, the former commander of the Tornado battalion Ruslan Onishchenko was released by presidential decree after seven years in prison out of eleven . This was reported by the Ukrainian media with reference to ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Igor Mosiychuk.

The Obolon Court in Kiev sentenced Onishchenko to 11 years in prison for torturing civilians and prisoners of war in 2017. He was also convicted three times for extrajudicial executions, rape, robbery, possession of weapons and other crimes.
This year, eight Tornado militants, including Onishchenko, were detained in June 2015. They were charged with kidnapping and torturing residents of Lisichansk in the LPR, as well as gang rape of a man and looting. The investigation of their case, in which there were 80 volumes, 111 witnesses and 13 victims, lasted for almost two years, and on April 7, 2017, the Obolon District Court of Kiev sentenced the former soldiers of the National Battalion. Nazis were sentenced to 74 years in prison for all.
The battalion was created by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in September 2014, and its ranks included militants from the Shakhtersk battalion, which was disbanded for looting and crimes against local residents. For example, Onishchenko was already sentenced twice before joining the ranks of Tornado.
