The Yemeni Ansar Allah declared that they had launched six attacks in the last 72 hours in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea. The targets included four commercial and two US warships in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.

According to the official claims, the US and British vessels, including two US destroyers were hit. The ships in question are US Maersk Saratoga and APL Detroit, and ‘British’ Huang Pu and Pretty Lady, which were reportedly struck by ballistic missiles and drones.

On March 24, the Pentagon reported a missile attack on an oil tanker belonging to a Chinese company. According to the US Central Command, five anti-ship ballistic missiles were fired at the MV HuangPu, which was sailing under the Panamanian flag. One of the missiles struck the target. The ship reportedly received only minor damage, the crew extinguished a small fire on board on their own.

The Houthis had previously promised not to attack Chinese vessels, as well as Russian ones. It is possible that an error occurred, since the owner of the vessel changed in February 2024.

The US intentionally highlighted the attack on the Chinese ship in an attempt to force China to take actions against the Yemeni rebels.

Earlier, the Houthis announced that in total, they had already conducted 38 military operations in the Red and Arabian Seas, in the Indian Ocean. According to Muhammad Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Ansar Allah politburo, the Yemeni air defense repelled 4,585 attacks and shot down 165 enemy aircraft.
