The USS Ronald Reagan has failed to departue Japan’s Yokosuka and to start its patrol mission due to an unspecified technical issue aboard the aircraft carrier, Stars and Stripes reported on Monday citing Navy officials.
“While inport Yokosuka and conducting routine pre-underway checks, a material issue was identified that requires repair,” the Navy statement reads. “Details are still being coordinated and will be dependent upon the length of the repair.”
The problem delayed the departure of the carrier strike group. It is regularly scheduled to conduct patrol missions in the Asia-Pacific region with a special attention to the South China Sea and North Korea.
