Warplanes of the US-led coalition carried out a series of airstrikes on civilian buildings inside the town of al-Susah in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside killing and injuring many civilians, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on October 18.
“Yes, it happened today, coalition aircraft are constantly bombing the homes of innocent civilians, thereby helping the Daesh [ISIS] militants,” a Syrian military source told the Russian news agency Sputnik confirming the report.
This was not the first time when the Damascus government accused the US-led coalition of attacking civilians during its military operation against ISIS in the Euphrates Valley. Last week, Syrian sources said that coalition warplanes dropped internationally forbidden white phosphorous bombs on civilian areas within the town of Hajin, north of al-Susah.
The US-led coalition has stepped up its airstrikes on remaining ISIS positions in the Euphrates Valley since the beginning of this month to support its proxies from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which are struggling to advance on the ground. However, this led to several problems, including a friendly-fire incident, in which 6 US-backed fighters were killed.
