The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that it managed to capture 8 districts in Raqqa that make up 45% of the city.
The SDF has announced that its fighters repelled an ISIS attack on its positions in Nazlat Shehadeh district in the southern part of the city and killed 14 ISIS fighters.
Furthermore, the SDF allegedly killed 35 ISIS fighters and destroyed 4 ISIS VBIEDs during its advance in the districts of Hashim bin Abdul Malik, Al-Bareed and Al-Rawda. The SDF also discovered an ISIS drone workshop during its advance.

From its side, ISIS argued that it attacked SDF positions in Nazlat Shehadeh district with 3 VBIEDs. Separately ISIS attacked SDF positions in Al-Jazra district in the western part of Raqqa City with another VBIED. According to ISIS sources, the attacks in Nazlat Shehadeh district killed at least 21 SDF fighters.

Sources from the Civil Council of Raqqa City (CCRC) claimed that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) intends to attack Raqqa city signaling that only the US prevents this. According to the sources, US Army General Robert Jones, a commander in the US-led coalition, told the CCRC that the US has imposed some limits on the SAA.
“We placed a limit to the regime and told the regime about those limits and the need to abide by it, and the regime is committed to it so far,” Jones allegedly said.
Several SAA sources denied the intention of the SAA to attack Raqqa city. The current SAA goal is to lift the ISIS siege from the city of Deir Ezzor. Most likely, the CCRC statement is just a part of the ongoing US-led media-campaign against the SAA.
