On November 12, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that its fighters captured al-Busayrah town in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside. The SDF also said that its forces are advancing now in al-Shheell village south of al-Busayrah. Al-Shheell is that last ISIS position in the Khabur-Euphrates pocket.
Meanwhile, the ISIS-linked Amaq news agency announced that ISIS fighters targeted positions of the SDF around al-Busayrah town with 107mm rockets. Amaq also reported that six suicide attackers of ISIS attacked positions of the SDF in the Omar oil fields in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
Back on November 11, Amaq claimed that a VBIED of ISIS targeted a position of the SDF near the al-Hasakah–Deir Ezzor highway. 15 SDF fighters were killed, and 3 vehicles of the SDF were damaged in the VBIED attack according to Amaq.
After capturing al-Shheell village, the SDF will be able to resume its advance towards the Syrian-Iraqi border. ISIS fighters will likely withdraw without fighting towards Nineveh desert west of Mosul city inside Iraq.
