On the morning of December 29, an unidentified air object entered the Polish airspace from the territory of Ukraine. The incident was confirmed by the Operational Command of the Polish army.  The violation of the border was recorded during the massive attack of Russian drones and missiles throughout Ukraine, including in the western regions. The Polish military has so far provided no precise details of the incident. The object was reportedly tracked by Polish air defense forces until its signal disappeared from the radars. In accordance with the official procedures, the operational command has mobilized all the forces and means at its disposal.

Later, the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces declared that the missile that violated Polish airspace later left it. Providing no evidence, the official supposed that the missile was allegedly Russian.

According to Polish media, the search for an unidentified object is underway. The ‘object’ was reportedly flying “at great speed to the west, as reported by residents of Przewodów region which is bordering the Lviv region of Ukraine. This is surprisingly the same area, where another Ukrainian missile exploded a year ago.

There were no sounds of explosions and destruction of the object was not recorded. According to some local reports, it fell near the village of Vozhuchin-Kukronia near the Ukrainian border.

In his turn, Polish President Andrzej Duda has called an urgent meeting with the National Security Bureau after the mysterious incident. Polish Defense Minister said he was in constant contact with the President, the Prime Minister, the Chief of the General Staff and the operational commander of the Armed Forces.

The Polish leadership once again demonstrated the readiness to get together and discuss the ongoing developments to coordinate their claims, while NATO showed that it is sending its air defense systems for destruction in Ukraine but it still fails to secure the eastern bordering the war-torn country. Another such unidentified object, which fell in February 2022, claimed the lives of several civilian Poles.
