Amid the ongoing Russian counter offensive in the last border areas in the Kursk region, the situation remains tense in the Belgorod region nearby. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are suffering losses in their attacks on foot, but they do not stop attempts to find weak points in Russian defense. The border guards reinforced by military units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue to repel Ukrainian attacks.

As a result of several days of attacks, the Ukrainian troops broke through the first line of Russian defense on the border and gained a foothold in the forests nearby. Having lost a number of tanks and infantry vehicles, the Ukrainian military is operating in small infantry groups, rarely supported by Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.

One of the main directions of Ukrainian attacks, is the village of Demidovka, which they entered from the southern outskirts the day before but failed to gain a foothold there. Some Ukrainian assault groups are still present in Demidovka. Shooting continues, artillery shelling and airstrikes do not stop. The both sides are launching UAVs of various types.

Russian strikes on Ukrainian forces in the Belgorod and Sumy regions:

On March 24th, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted attack in new direction across the border. According to preliminary reports from the front, Ukrainian special forces attacked the border village of Popovka in an attempt to bypass Demidovka. Fighting was reported near the border checkpoint. Russian border guards are repelling the attack, preventing the enemy from the further advance. They are supported by Russian artillery and drone strikes.

Ukrainian attacks in the Bolgorod region have been ongoing for almost a week but they are yet to bring any significant result on the ground. Suffering additional losses in manpower and military equipment, the Ukrainian military are reducing their fighting potential even a series of strategic defeats. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Ukrainian army lost 175 servicemen, two tanks, four armored vehicles, 18 cars and four artillery guns in this direction over the past day alone. Despite losses on the battlefields, the ongoing attempts to gain control of some Russian territories bring no political benefits to the humiliated Kiev regime.
