Kiev forces shelled the Russian region of Belgorod and the Donetsk People’s Republic on June 22, killing four civilians and wounding several others.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that a civilian was killed in the settlement of Saltykovo as a result of a direct hit by a Ukrainian shell.
“A man died as a result of a direct hit by a shell on the territory of an agricultural enterprise. He died from his wounds on the spot before the doctors arrived. I express my sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased,” Gladkov wrote in his Telegram channel.
Meanwhile, in Donetsk, the regional head Denis Pushilin, reported the death of three civilians as a result of Ukrainian shelling with American-made weapons.
“During shelling of the Budennovsky district of Donetsk the enemy used M26 missiles on a HIMARS MLRS with a cluster warhead [644 M77 cumulative fragmentation submunitions] for the first time. As a result of the shelling, three men, employees of a construction company, were killed,” Pushilin wrote in his Telegram channel.
Four other civilians were wounded by the shelling in the Kuibyshevsky district of Donetsk and in Gorlovka, according to Pushilin.
The deadly attacks came after several facilities in the Russian-held Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) were powered down in the morning as a result of Ukrainian shelling.
“As a result of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attack on the Raduga substation at the Zaporozhye NPP, the functionality of infrastructure facilities was disrupted,” the station said in its Telegram channel.
Following the latest attacks, a series of airstrikes, which were attributed to the Russian Aerospace Forces, hit the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, some 30 kilometers away from Belgorod. Several precision-guided bombs reportedly hit a transportation hub used by Kiev forces in the city, causing damage and casualties during the attack.
It’s worth noting that a Russian group strike hit energy infrastructure in the regions of Zaporizhzhia, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk.
The Russian military resumed strikes against military infrastructure and affiliated power facilities in Ukraine last March in response to repeated attacks by the Kiev regime against Russian terrorists. The attacks killed and wounded dozens of Russian civilians in the last few months.
