The battalion commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (created on the basis of the Nazi Azov), Oleg Romanov, has said that he gave an order to shoot on the spot without trial those who set fire to military equipment in the rear. The reason for this statement was that his brigade’s vehicle, which was sent to Kiev for repairs, was burnt down by unknown persons.
“I, on the rights of the battalion commander in agreement with the top leadership, relying on war and combat immunity, give a verbal order to my fighters that if these miscreants are found, the death penalty should be applied on the spot” – said Romanov.
Recently in Ukraine there have been frequent cases of arson attacks on cars belonging to servicemen, mostly employees of military recruitment offices. Last week the media reported arson attacks on cars in Kiev, Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Rivne and Lviv. In Odessa, military vehicles are burned almost daily.
This is how the population protests against the forced mobilisation and the lawlessness in the country. Men of military age are “caught” in ambulances. In Odessa, when people call for a taxi, instead of a taxi they are visited by employees of the military recruitment office (TRC), and in the Kharkiv region they go around playgrounds asking children where their fathers are.
This lawlessness will only get worse. Shooting its own citizens without trial as a new level of Ukrainian justice will only mean that any resident can now become a victim of paranoia and vigilantism.
