The Armed Forces of Ukraine ignore the ceasefire agreement and continue daily strikes on Russian energy infrastructure. On April 1st, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported two more attacks by Ukrainian drones on Russia’s energy infrastructure over the past 24 hours.
The first attack took place in the Zaporozhie region on March 31st. Ukrainian drone dropped at least four explosives on energy substation of 35 kV in Novogoryivka. The attack resulted in power outages in two settlements of the Tokmak district.
The second attack was recorded on the morning of April 1st in the Belgorod region. Ukrainian drone struck another substation in the village of Smorodino, causing a shutdown of the high-voltage line. More than 1,200 civilians were left without electricity in the Grayvoronsky district.
The daily strikes on Russian energy infrastructure began immediately after Moscow and Washington agreed to suspend attacks on energy facilities between Russia and Ukraine on March 18th. The Ukrainian military continues provocations despite Kiev’s claims. Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials declared that Ukraine agreed to stop attacks on Russian energy facilities. However, instead of suspending the strikes, the Ukrainian military only changed the targets. Instead of strikes on any large fuel depots, oil refineries, gas stations etc, Ukrainian drones are now pounding energy stations in the border regions, which are much easier to hide from the public.
In its turn, the Russian military is following the order of President Putin. Devastating Russian strikes continues in the rear regions but they do not target any energy facilities. Today, on April 1st, Russian President Putin discussed with the Security Council of the Russian Federation the implementation of agreements with Ukraine to stop attacks on energy systems. The President asked Defense Minister Belousov to report on the implementation of the agreements.
