Kiev tries its best to draw the third countries into the conflict against Russia. On February 27, the Ukrainian military declared that Russian kamikaze UAV had allegedly crossed the airspace of Moldova during the night attack in Ukraine.
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one of the Russian drones which targeted some facilities in the Ukrainian Odessa region flew into the territory of neighboring Moldova. The UAV reportedly flew over Moldovan territory for several tens of kilometers, and then came back into the territory of Ukraine, where it was destroyed by Ukrainian air defense forces.
The same claims were made by the representative of the Ukrainian Air Force, who claimed that this “fact had been recorded” by the Ukrainian military. He stressed out that this was not the first Russian drone which violated Moldovan airspace.
Kiev’s efforts to escalate the situation had no effect, as the Moldovan military denied these statements.
In its turn, the Moldovan Defense Ministry denied the claims by the Ukrainian military officials, saying that “not a single drone launched by the Russian Federation flew over the territory of the country tonight.” The Moldovan authorities added that the Ukrainian side informed them that all Russian drones spotted in the Odessa region were shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces.
This is not the first Kiev’s attempt to blame the Russian military for violating the borders of the third countries. For example, in the autumn of 2022, a S-300 missile fell and exploded in Polish Przevodowy, killing two local farmers. Kiev and its Western patrons immediately declared that Russia was to blame for the attack. However, Polish investigation came to an unequivocal conclusion: the missile belonged to the Ukrainian air defense. Moreover, the investigation could not be concluded because Kiev refused to cooperate with the Polish experts and provide any data on the Ukrainian servicemen who gave the order to fire anti-aircraft missile systems at the Polish territory that day.
After numerous precedents of Kiev’s lies, the ongoing Ukrainain attempts to accuse the Russian military in violation of the borders of other states seem humiliating.
