The Ukrainian military began using new gifts from the United States. Footage from the front shared by Russian sources confirmed the first deployment of the US-made GLSDB (Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb) launched by HIMARS MLRS.

The first strikes with new ammunition were recorded during Ukrainian attack on the village of Kremennaya in the Donetsk People’s Republic on February 13. The published footage shows the fragments of the wings and tail of the GLSDB, based on the GBU-39 bomb, launched from HIMARS rocket launchers.

The high-precision GLSDB has a range of about 150 km. The bomb has its own navigation system and folding wings, thanks to which it can nosedive to the target after separating from the missile part of the M26 rocket. The bomb has the propulsion system of a standard rocket projectile to be used from ground-based firing systems like HIMARS MLRS. These bombs are a very difficult target for SAMs due to their small size.

New bombs were transferred to Ukraine in early 2024. The Pentagon published information about their transfer of bombs only at the end of January this year. However, HIMARS is in service with the Ukrainian military for a long time and these systems are largely used for the stacks on civilians; but the transfer of GLSDBs was delayed for almost a year.
