After a short pause on April 1st, Russian and Ukrainian forces resumed massive night strikes in the rear regions. The Ukrainian military is destroying civilian infrastructure and continues attacks on Russian energy facilities despite the agreement reached on March 18th.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, on the night of April 2nd, 93 Ukrainian drones were destroyed and intercepted by Russian air defense. They included:
- 87 UAVs destroyed in the border Kursk region,
- 4 UAVs in the southern Rostov region,
- 2 UAVs in the border Belgorod region.
There was damage to Russian military infrastructure confirmed as a result of the strikes, but Ukrainian drones heavily damaged civilian buildings in the center of the cities of Kursk and Taganrog.
The Ukrainian military also continues strikes on Russian energy facilities. According to the Russian military, two more attacks were recorded over the past day. On the night of April 2nd, Ukrainian drone struck energy substation of 110 kV near the village of Klykva in the Kursk region. At the same time, the Ukrainian military intentionally shelled another facility of the Rosseti Center-Kurskenergo in the Kursk region.
‘Amid the statements by various representatives of the Kiev regime, starting with Zelensky, about the following of restrictions on attacks on Russian energy facilities, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are systematically launching attacks using UAVs and artillery systems on the Russian energy infrastructure,’ the Russian MoD concluded.
The local authorities also reported that Ukrainian drones struck the Svatovo gas measuring station in the LPR, where a fire broke out as a result of the attack.
In their turn, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue daily devastating strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure, without targeting energy facilities.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in total, 74 Russian kamikaze drones targeted Ukrainian territory last night. According to the Ukrainian military, 41 of them were destroyed by the all-mighty Ukrainian air defense forces, 20 decoy drones allegedly disappeared. Thus, only 13 Russian drones allegedly struck their targets; but the local reports confirm dozens of strikes in different Ukrainian regions.
The Russian military continues following the tactics of devastating concentrated strikes on Ukrainian cities, which allows to bypass Ukrainian air defense.
Last night, the industrial zone of Kharkiv came under one of such concentrated waves of strikes. More than a dozen explosions thundered in the city. At least six Russian drones struck the production and logistics cluster, partially used for the repair and supply of the 92nd mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The facilities of Promsvyaz enterprise came under attack, as a result of which components for UAVs and EW systems stored there were destroyed. Another target of Russian strikes were the workshops of the Vilona company, turned into warehouses of the Ukrainian military.
The southern city of Odessa also came under a massive attack. A series of explosions thundered in the city. It was confirmed that two Geran UAVs struck the base of the 37th separate communications brigade of the Ukrainian Navy in the village of Radisne.
Damage to the Armed Forces of Ukraine was also confirmed in the areas under their control in the DPR. As a result of the precision drone strikes, a logistics hub of the 81st Airmobile Brigade was destroyed in Kramatorsk. Three Russian kamikaze UAVs struck a parking lot with military vehicles of the 3rd brigade of the National Guards of Ukraine in Zolotoy Kolodez.
On the afternoon of April 2nd, a large explosion thundered in the city of Krivy Rih. It was reportedly attacked by Russian missile. The local authorities confirmed strikes on an industrial facility, revealing no details.
