The Ministry of Defense commented on the strike on the Ukrainian military airfield in Mirgorod in the Poltava region. The attack took place on the afternoon of July 1. LINK The strikes were coordinated by Russian reconnaissance UAV. Its footage confirmed heavy losses of the Ukrainian Air Force.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the successful attack and the destruction of Ukrainian aircraft. The officially declared number of the destroyed aircraft turned out to be higher than it was previously reported.

According to previously published data, 2 fighters were destroyed and 4 more were damaged during the strike, while according to the Ministry of Defense, 5 Su-27 fighters were destroyed and 2 more were damaged.

‘The Iskander-M missile systems of the Russian Armed Forces launched a group missile strike on the parking lot of the AFU aircraft. Objective control confirmed the destruction of military aircraft. As a result of the strike, 5 active Su-27 multi-purpose fighters were destroyed and 2 under repair were damaged’, the Russian Ministry of Defense reports.

The Ukrainian side confirmed the attack but tried to hide the losses, hypocritical blaming Moscow for lies. The ex-speaker of the Ukrainian Air Force Yuri Ignat confirmed the loss of aircraft, but urged not to believe the Russian military.

‘There was a strike. There are certain losses, but not at all as heavy as the enemy is claiming’, he said.

His lies are also denied by Ukrainian military observers. Ukrainian sources revealed the details of the attack and published its timeline. The Ukrainians were surprised that Russian drone was operating over the airbase for many hours. It passed unnoticed and targeted the strikes. It was operating over the airfield from at least 11 pm to 4 pm.
