UPDATE: The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the attack, claiming that five missiles were shot down by air defense means. As a result of the attack, the historic building of the Black Sea Fleet headquarters was damaged. According to available information, one serviceman is considered missing.

On September 22, Ukrainian forces launched another missile attack on Crimea. According to preliminary reports, at least 9 Storm Shadow missiles targeted Sevastopol. Eight of them were intercepted by Russian air defense forces. At least one missile struck the Headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in the center of the city.

The local authorities confirmed the attack, calling on the local civilians not to leave the buildings in the area and to go to the basements if air alert sounds. The wreckage of one of the downed missiles fell near the Lunacharsky Theater on Nakhimov Avenue in the center of the city.

All emergency services are deployed in the area, the airmobile group of is ready to take action if necessary. Information about the victims is being clarified. According to unofficial preliminary reports, six people were wounded.

The strike on Sevastopol was coordinated by the US military. P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft was spotted over the Romanian coast near the Ukrainian border.

As a result of the attack, the building of the Headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet is seen heavily damaged.

The Russian military also used a smoke screen during the attack to protect the fleet and the city.

Another cruise missile was shot down near the city of Bakhchisarai. As a result of the fall of the wreckage of the downed rocket, grass caught fire in the area.

Over the last night, the Russian Ministry of Defense also reported that Ukrainian UAV was shot down near the western coast of Crimea in the Black Sea. The Crimean peninsula, mainly the city of Sevastopol, have been targeted by Russian drones and missiles on a daily basis, after NATO has given the green light for strikes with their weapons. Kiev itself has no means to reach any targets on the Russian territory.

One Storm Shadow missile costs about  $25,000,000. Thus, today attack costed Western taxpayers about 25 million dollars. The daily strikes on the peninsula are likely to continue.
