The U.S.-led coalition has carried out two aerial attacks on ISIS hideouts in northern Iraq, where the terrorist group’s cells have been active recently.
Maj. Gen. Yehia Rasool, a spokesman for the Iraqi Commander-in-Chief, announced on September 21 that the coalition had carried out an airstrike on a hideout of ISIS in the vicinity of the city of Baiji in the province of Saladin.

On September 23, the U.S.-led coalition carried out a series of airstrikes on ISIS hideouts in Wadi Al-Shai in the province of Kirkuk. According to Col. Wayne Marotto, a spokesman for the coalition, a cave and two shelters were destroyed as a result of the airstrikes.

The U.S.-led coalition carried out both aerial attacks in Saladin and Kirkuk at the request of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command.
ISIS is becoming more active in the northern and western parts of Iraq. The terrorist group is trying to establish safe havens in these regions.
In the last two months, Iraqi government forces and the U.S.-led coalition intensified their operations, including aerial attacks, to prevent ISIS from reestablishing itself in the war-torn country.
