Two waves of Israeli strikes targeted southern Lebanon on March 1, as Hezbollah carried out more cross-border attacks.

In a statement released shortly after midday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that fighter jets carried out strikes on a building used by Hezbollah in the town of Ayta al-Shaab, and other infrastructure belonging to the group in the town of Labbouneh.

Later in the afternoon, the IDF said in a statement that fighter jets carried out strikes against another building used by Hezbollah in Ayta al-Shaab as well as infrastructure belonging to the group in the town of Jabal Bla.

The strikes on southern Lebanon were carried out in response to repeated attacks by Hezbollah on northern Israel, according to the IDF.

Lebanese media didn’t report any casualties. Hezbollah mourned two of its fighters but before midnight, which means they were killed in previous strikes.

The last waves of Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon didn’t stop Hezbollah from launching more attacks in support of the Gaza Strip.

In the three separate statements, the group said its fighters shot down an Israeli drone over the border area of Wadi al-Azziya, targeted a gathering of Israeli troops in the Ramim barracks and shelled the military site of al-Baghdadi.

These attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” according to Hezbollah’s statements.

Hezbollah and its allies have been launching attacks from southern Lebanon against the IDF since the outbreak of the war in Gaza.

So far, the clashes on the border have resulted in six civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least ten IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 300 people have been killed, including 209 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 40 civilians.
