Two Israeli civilians were killed and two others were wounded in a stabbing attack in the Israeli central city of Holon on August 4.
The attacker, a West Bank Palestinian, stabbed the casualties at three different locations before being shot dead by a police officer.
Israel’s Magen David Adom ambulance service declared one of the casualties, a 66-year-old woman, dead at the scene of the attack. It also took three of the casualties to nearby Wolfson Medical Center, a man in his 70s in critical condition, a man aged 68 in serious condition, and a 26-year-old in moderate condition.
The critically wounded man arrived at Wolfson without vital signs, and his death was declared there, according to Hebrew media.
The attacker was identified by Hebrew media as Amar Odeh, 34, a resident of the occupied West Bank city of Salfit. The source said he did not have an entry permit to Israel and had no prior security-related offenses. Israeli police added that they were scanning the area for possible additional suspects involved in the attack.
The deadly stabbing attack came just a day after two separate Israeli drone strikes killed nine Palestinians in the West Bank.
“Four citizens were martyred on Saturday [August 3] in an Israeli bombing targeting a vehicle on the road between the town of Bal’a and the Iktaba suburb east of Tulkarm,” reported official Palestinian news agency Wafa.
Earlier, the agency reported that “an Israeli army drone Saturday morning targeted a Palestinian vehicle on the Zeita-Attil Road, northeast of the occupied West Bank city of Tulkarm, killing five Palestinians.”
The security incidents in Israel and the West Bank came amid the Israeli war against Hamas and other Palestinian armed factions in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF stepped up operations throughout the West Bank after the start of the war in Gaza, killing at least 553 Palestinians and wounding 4,800 others. Hundreds of Palestinians were also arrested. Still, the security situation in Israel is only getting worse.
