On January 31, the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) reportedly captured the villages of Shankal and Bak Ubasi from Kurdish YPG/YPJ forces in the Syrian area of Afrin.
According to pro-Turkish sources, the YPG/YPJ suffered some casualties in the clashes there but no confirmed reports on the issue are available.
On January 30, the TAF and the FSA captured the villages of Qana, Khalil and Sati Ushaghi from Kurdish forces.
