Late on October 9, Turkey started a ground phase of its military operation in northeastern Syria. As the previous Turkish operations – in al-Bab and Afrin, this one will involve a large number of members of Turkish-backed militant groups. These groups are branded under the name of the so-called National Syrian Army.
