The administration of US President Donald Trump came up with another explanation why the US has to ingore the brazen killing of Jamal Khashoggi in a Saudi consultate in the Turkish city Istanbul, which had been obviously ordered by the Saudi government.
Previously, President Trump commented on the killing with an official statement saying that the world is a dangerouss place and blaiming Iran for the destabilization of the Middle East.
The new explanation is that the good Saudi-US relations are important for Israel…
In an interview with The Washington Post, Trump stated that the US has to keep its alliance and good relations with Saudi Arabia because it’s needed to combat Iran and to support Israel. He further described Saudi Arabia as an “important” ally of the US.
He also noted that the US military will be kept in the Middle East to defend interests of Israel.
“Now, are we going to stay in that part of the world? One reason to is Israel,” Trump told The Washington Post.
“Oil is becoming less and less of a reason because we’re producing more oil now than we’ve ever produced,” the President said. “So, you know, all of a sudden it gets to a point where you don’t have to stay there.”
