At least three people were killed on April 9 when another wave of United States strikes hit the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, which is held by the Houthis (Ansar Allah).

Al-Masirah TV, which is run by the Houthis, reported that the strikes targeted the al-Sabain district, which is located in the southern part of the capital. Later, four more U.S. strikes hit the Bani Hushaysh district in the region of Sanaa, according to the news channel, which didn’t report any casualties there.

Separately, Al-Masirah said that U.S. strikes hit the Houthi-controlled island of Kamaran in the Red Sea, off the shores of the western province of Hodeidah.

The latest deaths have brought the number of people killed in Yemen since the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) resumed strikes against Houthi-controlled areas there on March 15 on orders from President Donald Trump to 88. The toll reportedly includes both civilians and commanders of the Houthis.

Trump ordered the large-scale operation in response to the Houthis’ renewed attacks on Israel-affiliated shipping in the Red Sea.

Just a day earlier, at least 13 people, mostly women and children, were killed when U.S. strikes hit a residential building located in the Shu’aub district in the outskirts of Sanaa.

The U.S. recent deadly strikes on Yemen didn’t deter the Houthis. Over the last 24 hours, the group launched a drone attack at a military target near the central Israeli city of Tel Aviv, shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper combat drone and carried out another attack against the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea.

Speaking on April 10, the leader of the Houthis vowed that U.S. airstrikes in Yemen would not weaken the group’s military capabilities.

“The American aggression has failed and will remain so,” Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said. “The Americans can destroy a house with bombers and commit a crime, but they will never be able to shatter the morale of our dear people.”

The U.S., which reportedly has spent over $1 billion on its operation in Yemen, is yet to see any real results. The Houthis continue to demonstrate their ability to launch attacks in all directions.
