The third day of the Ukrainian counteroffensive was marked by new attempts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to break through Russian defenses in several directions.
On the morning of August 31, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the AFU suffered significant losses in failed attacks on the settlements of Arkhangelsk, Olgino and Ternovye Pody. A battalion of the 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was reportedly defeated near the settlement of Sukhoi Stavki.
‘Currently, the destruction of its remains is being completed.’ the Russian MoD reported.
To unblock the AFU units, 12 tanks supplied to the Kiev regime by Poland were transported across the Ingulets River. Some of the tanks were destroyed by the powerful fire by the Russian troops. Several tanks were blown up in disorderly withdrawal. Only five Ukrainian tanks were able to break back, deep into the territory controlled by the AFU.
Columns of ambulances spotted in Odessa:
During two days of unsuccessful attacks on Mykolaiv-Krivoy Rog and other directions, Ukrainian troops lost four combat aircraft: two Su-25, one Su-24 and one MiG-29. Three Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopters were shot down in the air. Russian troops destroyed 63 Ukrainian tanks, 59 infantry fighting vehicles, 48 other armored combat vehicles, 14 pickups with heavy machine guns and more than 1,700 Ukrainian servicemen.
The heavy losses of the AFU are confirmed by various military sources. The Russian military followed the tactics of ‘fire cauldrons’ in different areas on the front line.
However, later during the day, some success of the AFU was reported from the front lines. So far, the AFU took control of 5 settlements. They include Lyubomirovka, Ternovy Pody, Andreevka, Lozove, Sukhoi Stavok.
On the third day of the large-scale counteroffensive operations in Kherson, the Ukrainian military attempted to push through the defense of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in three areas at once.
Polish T-72 tanks destroyed in the region:
The AFU once again attacked Russian positions to the west of the city of Kherson from their positions in the town of Posad-Pokrovsky and previously taken village of Ternovy Pody. The AFU broke through Russian defenses in Zeleniy Gai and reached the northern outskirts of Kiselevka. However, they failed to establish a foothold and were repelled back to by Russian artillery. The Russian military managed to reinforce the positions in the area by forces from the Alexandrovka area. Clashes continue along the Petrovsky-Zeleniy Gai line. The villages of Lyubomirovka and Ternovy Pody remain under the control of the AFU.
Another attempt of the AFU to counterattack in Blagodatnoye failed. The AFU ammunition supply point was blown up in Partizanskoye located nearby.
The same no results were achieved by the Ukrainian military on the Black SEa coast in the area of Alexandrovka.
Ukrainian military column was destroyed:
More temporary gains of the AFU were reported in the area of Andreevka. Ukrainian forces reinforced their positions near the village of Sukhoi Stavok and manged to advance towards the southwestern outskirts of the village of Bruskinskoe located several kilometers to the north-east. They attempted to surround Russian grouping from the east and take control of the road to Davidov Brod. According to local sources, by the evening, the Russian units managed to repel the enemy back and secure the Davydov Brod — Bruskinskoe — Novaya Kakhovka. The entire corridor from Andreevka is under full fire control of Russian troops. Battles for Sukhoi Stavok and Kostroma continue.
HIMARS MLRS targets the city of Kherson:
In the area of Davydov Brod, the AFU launched several attacks, but so far without any success Several landing boats and tanks supporting them with fire were destroyed.
On the northern front lines, the situation remained unchanged. On August 31, the first reports claimed Ukrainian control of the village of Arhangelskoe but reportedly failed to hold their positions. Battle for the town continues. Russian units continue to defense their positions in Olgino and Vysokopolie.
