The Syrian Air Force has launched a massive bombing campaign in order counter the ongoing offensive by Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian al-Qaeda branch) and its allies in southwestern Aleppo.
At least 10 air strikes have already hit militant targets near the al-Assad Neighborhood where intense clashes are ongoing between the Syrian army and the joint militant forces.
Air raids have been also reported in the area of Khan Tuman, serving the rear base of attack, and along the Khan Tuman-Aleppo road.
Pro-government sources say that Jabhat Fatah al-Sham & Co suffered heavy casualties and were forced to retreat after the first attack. Militant sources claim that the ‘opposition’ have gained the ground (blue on the map) in western Aleppo.
