On August 16, the ISIS-linked Amaq news agency claimed that 32 SDF fighters were killed or injured after an ISIS VBIED targeted their position near “al-Jamia’a al Kabaier” – the Grand Mosque – in the eastern part of Raqqa city. Amaq also announced that another VBIED targeted a SDF position near al-Salam hospital in the center of Raqqa city.
The US-led collation said that its warplanes conducted 20 airstrikes in the last 24 hours on ISIS positions in Raqqa city. Opposition sources claimed that at least 14 civilians were killed in the few last days due to the US airstrikes on Raqqa city.
The SDF is now advancing in the center of Raqqa city in order to capture the old Raqqa area which is considered the most fortified area in the city.
