They Syrian Arab Army (SAA) uncovered a large weapons cache in the village of Tulul al-Humur in the southwestern Hama countryside during a search operation on August 29, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

An officer of the SAA told the SANA’s reporter that the weapons cache contained seven US-made TOW anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) along with a launcher and a night vision sight. Furthermore, dozens of rocket-propelled grenades and tank rounds of different calibers were found there.

Tulu al-Humur joined the reconciliation process on May 2 along with 64 other towns and villages in the northern Homs and southwestern Hama countrysides. Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups in these areas were supposed to hand over all of their weapons to the SAA under the reconciliation agreement.

These weapons were likely left behind by a radical group, such as Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), in order to use them later in hit and run attacks on the SAA and security forces.
