On December 23, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) captured more positions north of Hankarat, in the area between Mughr al-Mir and Beit Jinn in the Western Ghouta region, according to the Hezbollah media wing in Syria.
Syrian pro-government sources reported that the SAA captured the areas of Khirbat Heracl and al-Minbij, only 800 meters away from the last stronghold of HTS in Western Ghouta – Beit Jinn.
During its advance, the SAA killed seven fighters of HTS, including a field commander named “Abu Hatem Qatana”, according to pro-government sources.
Meanwhile, Syrian activists revealed that the SAA refused three requests for ceasefire in Western Ghouta by HTS and its allies. However, the SAA agreed to negotiate with HTS to arrange a deal that will expel it and its allies from the entire region, according to a pro-government source.
The SAA military operation in Western Ghouta will likely end soon, as HTS and its allies fully collapsed in the region.
