On April 27, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed its operations against militants in Al-Qaboun district in eastern Damascus, capturing some new points.
During the operation the SAA detected a tunnel connecting many militant positions inside the district and destroyed it. According to pro-goverment sources, the SAA eliminated two units belonging to the Jaish al-Rahman and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and captured one militant.
From its side, Ahrar al-Sham claimed that its members had hit two SAA battle tanks in Al-Qaboun district.
Jaish al-Rahman also published a video of a captured SAA soldier. Jaish al-Islam attempts to advance on Hawsh al-Dwahra in the Eastern Ghuta also reesulted in no gains.
Pro-opposition media outlets report about a critical situation faced by HTS, Ahrar al-Sham and Jaish al-Rahman in Al-Qaboun. According to reports, militants face shortages in ammunition and food and some of them surrender to the SAA providing vital information in return for amnesty.
The Syrian Air Force bombed positions belonging to HTS in Al-Qaboun district. The Fourth Division also shelled militants in the district using heavy Al-Fiel and Al-Bourkan rockets.
