Syrian government forces, led by the Tiger Forces, have liberated 400km2 from members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) and its allies in southern Idlib since the start of 2018.

The Syrian Army, the Tiger Forces and other pro-government factions established control over the important village of Abu Dali and a large of villages around it as well as deployed in about 11-12km south of the strategic Abu al-Duhur airbase. The rapid progress of the Syrian Army caused a collapse of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham defense in the area and now, the terrorist group is urgently re-grouping its forces to make an attempt to counter the army advance.
