The Syrian army, Hezbollah and its allies, supported by the Russian Aerospace Forces, have regained initiative from the militants in southwestern Aleppo. Developing previous successes, the pro-government forces fully secured the 1070 Apartment Project annd now engaged Jaish al-Fatah (coalition of various miltiant groups, including Al Nusra Front) militants in the Air Force Technical Base at the Ramouseh Artillery Base.
Pro-government source say that the Syrian forces have already gained about a half of the area and continued advances. Syrian and Russian warplanes and the Syrian army’s artillery played crucial role in this advances. Their actions aimed to destroy militant reinforcements and supplies heading to the frontline allowed the pro-government forces to regain the initiative in southwestern Aleppo.
After the taking control of the 1070 Apartment Project, the Syrian artillery is now able to strengthen fire pressure on the Jaish al-Fatah corridor to the militant-controlled areas of the city.
Chief of the Air Force Technical Base, General Deeb Bizzi, leaded the offensive in the area. He was reportedly killed in the clashes. There is no information who is leading the battle now.
Unconfirmed reports say that the Syrian government forces are seeking to forn a solid defense line along the Aleppo-Damascus Highway:
Some pro-government sources dissiminate reports that the Syrian forces are in full control of the Air Force Technical College. However, this has not been confirmed.
