On October 6, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies eliminated an ISIS pocket east of Jubb al-Jarrah town in the eastern Homs countryside, and recaptured all the villages in it, according to the SAA media department.
The Hezbollah media wing in Syria announced that the SAA liberated 1800 square kilometers during its military operation east of Jubb al-Jarrah.
This major victory will allow the SAA to redeploy many of its units to al-Sukhnah town in the eastern Homs countryside. Many Syrian sources reported that ISIS fighters successfully besieged the town on October 5.
Moreover, the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq claimed on October 6 that ISIS fighters killed 5 Syrian soldiers, and destroyed two vehicles of the SAA around al-Sukhnah town.
Meanwhile, in the southern Homs countryside, Syrian opposition sources claimed that Syrian warplanes conducted several airstrikes against ISIS in al-Qaryatayn town.
From its side, pro-government sources reported that a VBIED of ISIS attacked a position of the SAA around the town. Only one policeman was killed in the attack, according to the sources.
Opposition sources also reported that units from the National Defense Forces (NDF) including fighters from al-Qaryatayn were deployed around the town. Recent photos from the area that a group of the Russian Special Forces was also deployed there.
The SAA appears to be preparing for a rapid military operation to recapture al-Qaryatayn as fast as possible to minimize its loses.
