On January 28, the Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) declared a full control over the village of Ayn al-Fijah and water spring in the Wadi Barada region northwest of the Syrian capital of Damascus.
Government forces were able to do this a result of the recent advances in in the villages and successfull negotiations between the reconciliation committee and Wadi Barada representatives. Curtain part of militants retreated from Ayn al-Fijah to the nearby village of Deir Miqrin.
Local sources say that these developments allowed engineer teams to enter the area to start works on fixing the water supply line to Damascus.
Earlier this week, reports appeared that the Syrian government and local militants have made a deal, allowing members of armed groups to leave the area in the direction of Idlib or to be pardonned by the government.
