The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued its advance in southern Idlib on August 21, imposing control of many positions west of the newly-captured village of Tar’i.

Muraselon, a pro-government news outlet, reported that army units secured Tai’i farms, the sugar factory and the area of al-Susah.

A few hours earlier, the SAA captured Tar’i and its key hilltop following heavy clashes with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies.

Army units are now less 5km away from the key town of Khan Shaykhun. The Tiger Forces are stationed in the town’s northern part and on the nearby Damascus-Aleppo highway.

The SAA will likely besiege the remaining militants’ positions in northern Hama soon. Initial reports indicate that the militants are planning to withdraw instead of fighting the already lost battle.
