The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) 5th Assault Corps have entered the Arak gas field east of the ancient city of Palmyra eganing ISIS units in the area.
According to some sources, the 5th Assault Corps took full control over the gas field on Wednesday. However, it still has to be confirmed by photos or videos from the site. Furthermore, it’s complicated to control this area without controlling the nearby Arak village.
A pro-government media activist, Ivan Sidorenko, released some photos allegedly depicting Syrian soldiers at near the Arak field:
On Tuesday, the SAA captured a large area from ISIS east of the city of Al-Qaryatayn with an aim to reach the strategic al-Busairi crossroads. On Wednesday, government troops continued their advance.
