Syria: Ten People Killed, Injured In New Ras Al-Ain Blast (Video)

On August 27 morning, a booby-trapped motorcycle exploded in the northeastern Syrian town of Ras al-Ain, which is occupied by Turkish forces.

The booby-trapped motorcycle was reportedly parked near a shop in the al-Bared roundabout in Ras al-Ain’s town center.

According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the explosion killed two people. At least eight others were injured, some of them are reportedly in a critical condition.

In the last two weeks, Ras al-Ain witnessed a series of protests and clashes. A Turkish decision to appoint a militant of the al-Hamza Division as the director of the town’s border crossing provoked the locals.

Kurdish forces are usually accused of orchestrating such attacks in Turkish-occupied areas in northern and northeastern Syria. Nevertheless, the recent crisis in Ras al-Ain suggests that the al-Hamza Division may be responsible.

Turkish-backed militants have been wreaking havoc in Ras al-Ain since capturing it from Kurdish forces in October of 2019.

The new explosion in Ras al-Ain will likely lead to a backlash against Turkey and its proxies, who are doing nothing to secure the town and its people.
