On November 20, at least 50 people were killed and 72 others were wounded in a suicide attack on a religious celebration in the Afghan capital of Kabul, according to media reports citing officials.
The attack religious scholars and leaders inside a wedding hall where hundreds had gathered to mark the Prophet Mohammad’s birthday — one of the holiest days in the Islamic calendar.
Citing a local sources, AFP reporte dthat the suicide bomber blew himself up in the middle of the gathering of around 1,000 people in the Uranus Wedding Palace. The site also hosts political and religious functions.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the Taliban has condemned it via a statement on its social media accounts.
Over the past year, ISIS has claimed responsibility for a majority of the suicide attacks in Kabul.
