The local council of Darat Azza has released an official statement condemning the attack carried out by the YPG fighters on the town. The council accused YPG of cutting off water from the town, stealing some of the town’s resources, and also accused YPG fighters of harassing the civilians on their checkpoints.
In the statement, the council said YPG used newly supplied weapons in its latest attack – in reference to US military aid.
On Thursday, the fighting between the joint forces of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), Ahrar al-Sham, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and YPG fighters continued in northwestern Aleppo.
Islamists shelled YPG positions and civilian areas north of Darat Azza. The YPG responded with shelling positions of militant groups in Darat Azza.
According to opposition sources, the Turkey-backed Abna’ al-Sham group has deployed more troops to support the FSA in Darat Azza.
In the meantime, Turkey announced that it had completed the construction of a 828 km border wall along the Syrian-Turkish border. The Turkish move is believed to be a directed step against the Kurds mainly.Members of extremist groups such as HTS still enjoy the freedom of movement between Turkey and Syria, even after the construction of the wall.
