The situation in Syria as of 15:00 Damascus time:
- Most of Syria, including Damascus, is under rebel control.
- Assad has fled and abdicated, Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali has had the courage to stay and is making arrangements to hand over full power to the rebels.
- Russia is in contact with all the major rebel groups, with whom it appears to be discussing the future of its bases in Latakia province.
- The US will not withdraw from Syria and will continue to occupy the At-Tanf area and the north-eastern part of the country.
- Iran is reducing its military presence in western Syria.
- Israel occupies part of Syria near the Golan Heights and declares it a ‘closed military zone’. It also attacks abandoned SAA depots.
- Hezbollah withdraws its units into Lebanese territory. The Lebanese army reinforces border security with Syria.
- Iraq continues to move armoured and mechanised brigades towards the border with Syria. Hashd Shaabi units have also been observed there.
- Turkey intends to eliminate the Kurdish presence at least west of the Euphrates in the near future (Manbij and adjacent areas will be occupied by the SNA). Areas east of the Euphrates are also under threat.
- Amid mass looting and pillaging, a curfew was imposed in Damascus from 4pm to 5am.
