Several fighter jets of the Israeli Air Force were damaged last week as heavy rains flooded their hangars, the Israeli Defense Forces admitted on January 12 after a series of failed attempts to censor appearing erports about the incident.
“A number of planes were damaged. They will be repaired and will return to flight in the coming days,” the IDF said.
According to the IDF, the flooding targeted an undisclosed air force base in southern Israel. Huge volumes of rainwater appeared in the covered hangars where the fighter jets were stored.
The IDF did not reveal the number of fighter jets targeted. However, according to reports, the damage repars will cost millions of dollars.
