On December 27, forces loyal to Saudi-backed President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi captured over 17km2 of Khabb wa Sha’af district in the northern Yemeni province of Jawf, according to the UAE-based al-Arabiya TV. The outlet also claimed that the Houthis’ defense started collapsing in Jawf after the recent advance of the Saudi-led coalition there.

Coalition warplanes supported the attack and destroyed 3 ballistic missiles launchers, 6 tanks and 3 vehicles of the Houthis in Jawf province, according to Yemeni sources.

Pro-Hadi forces also advanced in the central province of al-Bayda and captured the districts of Nati’ and Na’man on December 28, according to al-Arabiya.

The advance is a part of the Saudi-led coalition effort to capture the entire central Yemen in order to increase the pressure on the Houthis in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a.

The Saudi-led coalition announced that its warplanes destroyed several positions of the Houthis in the province of Dhale province in southern Yemen. Over 37 fighters and 3 commanders of the Houthis were killed in the airstrikes in Dhale, according to al-Arabiya.

The Saudi-led coalition and pro-Hadi forces launched several military operations all across the country in early December in an attempt to pressure the Houthis on multiple fronts.
