On May 31, the Saudi-led coalition and its Yemeni proxies fully captured the district of al-Durayhimi 15km south of the city of al-Hudaydah, according to the UAE-based al-Arabiya TV. The TV station added that the coalition is now preparing to launch an attack on positions of the Houthis in the southern neighborhoods of the city.
Meanwhile, the UAE-based Sky News Arabia TV reported that warplanes of the Saudi-led coalition had carried out a series of airstrikes on several units of the Houthis in the village of Manakhah in the western part of the province of Sanaa. These units were on their way to al-Hudaydah, according to the source.
Yemeni source revealed that some commanders and fighters of the Houthis are withdrawing from al-Hudaydah now, while others are building fortifications and digging trenches in the urban areas of the city.
While the Houthis are highly experienced in mountain and desert warfare, they lack any real experience in urban warfare. Due to this, some observers believe that the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies may mange to capture al-Hudaydah.
