Saudi-led Coalition Intercepts Drone, Bombs Sanaa Airport & Destroys Booby-Trapped Boat (Video)

Screen grab from the Saudi-led coalition’s interception video.

Early on December 1, the Saudi-led coalition announced that it had intercepted a drone of the Houthis (Ansar Allah) over the northern Yemeni province of Amran.

A video released by the coalition indicates that the drone was shot down by a fighter jet of the Royal Saudi Air Force with an air-to-air missile.

The coalition claimed that the Houthis launched the drone from the international airport of the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. In response, Saudi-led coalition warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on the airport’s air defense base, where the drone was supposedly assembled.

Around an hour after the interception of the drone, the Saudi-led coalition announced that its warplanes had destroyed a remotely-controlled booby-trapped boat in the southern Red Sea.

According to the coalition’s claims, the booby-trapped boat was launched by the Houthis from the western Yemeni province of al-Hudaydah.

“The Houthi threat to freedom of navigation endangers regional and international security,” the coalition said in a statement shared by the Saudi Press Agency.

In the last few weeks, the Saudi-led coalition stepped up its aerial operations against the Houthis in Yemen in a bid to deter the group and destroy it advanced offensive capabilities. The coalition is yet to achieve its goals.

The Houthis shot down a CH-4 combat drone of the Saudi-led coalition over Amran at December 1 noon, demonstrating the resilience of their capabilities.
