On May 20, the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies captured the strategic region of al-Atifyn in the Kitaf wa al-Boqe’e district of the northern Yemeni province of Saada, according to the UAE based al-Arabiya TV.
The Saudi-led coalition launched its military operation in the al-Atifyn region on May 16. During the first day of the attack the Houthis’ defense collapsed and the coalition captured the areas of Tibab Ajam, Khashim Adiyaq and al-Barq al-Ahmar Mount.
Meanwhile, Yemeni sources reported that the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies had also advanced in the Baqim district in the northern part of Saada province. The sources said that the coalition had captured the Tibab Yazhur area, Yaf’a al-Sughrah Mountains, the al-Thuban valley and parts of Hadid Mount.
The Saudi-led coalition and its proxies killed at least 30 fighters of the Houthis and destroyed several vehicles during their advance in the Baqim district, according to Yemeni sources.

Since the begning of March, the Saudi-led coalition has stepped up its military operations against the Houthis in Saada province, in what observers believe to be an attempt to weaken the Yemeni group in its heartland.
