Saudi Arabia sacked its top military commanders, including the chief of staff and the heads of the ground forces and air defences, in a series of royal decrees last night, according to the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Howeverm no reason for the sackings was given.
The development comes as the Saudi-led coalition still struggles in its battle against the Houthis and their allies in Yemen. Some experts believe that the move is linked to a lack of military success of Saudi Arabia in Yemen and a political “purge” launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in 2017.
According to some experts, Crwon Prince Salman is seeking to consolidate his power and to find persons to blame for failures in the war on the Houthis in Yemen.
