Saudi Airstrikes On ‘Drone Depots’ In Yemen’s Sanaa Leave Three Civilians Dead (Photos)

Early on January 2, warplanes of the Saudi-led coalition carried out a series of airstrikes on the Yemeni capita, Sanaa, which is held by the Houthis (Ansar Allah).

In a statement shared by the Saudi Press Agency, the coalition claimed that the airstrikes destroyed four suicide drone depots and a number of drone launch sites of the Houthis located in the General Transportation Brigade Camp. The coalition claimed that it had taken “precautionary measures” to protect civilians present near the targets.

“The operation was in line with the international humanitarian law and its customary rules,” the coalition said in its statement.

Nevertheless, the Yemeni al-Masirah TV reported that one of the Saudi-led coalition’s airstrikes destroyed a mosque in the district of Mo3een in the western part of Sanaa. Three civilians were killed in the airstrike.

The Saudi-led coalition’s airstrikes on Sanaa were a response to an attack with three suicide drones that targeted Saudi Arabia’s southern region on January 1. All three drones were allegedly shot down. The coalition claimed that the drones were launched by the Houthis. However, the group is yet to confirm this.

Saudi Arabia and its allies are not apparently planning to end their war on Yemen. The situation in the country will likely worsen this year.
