On June 26, Russia’s Sukhoi Design Bureau showcased its Ohotnik (Hunter) large unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) via the design bureau’s page in Vkontakte.
According to the Russian news agency Interfax, which contacted a source in the Sukhoi Design Bureau, the UCAV is curerntly passing tests on the ground prepearing for its maiden flight, which is expected to take place in 2019.
There are no exact details on the characteristics of the Ohotnik UCAV. However, it’s rumored that takeoff weight will be up to 20t.
According to the Russian media, Ohotnik is at least partly unified with the Russian fifth generation fighter jet Su-57 and there are links between the aircraft. The Ohotnik UCAV will enter service not earlier than 2020.
The Ohotnik project’s budget is 1.6 billion RUR [about 26.6 million USD].
