In early hours of August 31, warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) hit militant positions in Syria.
Russian warplanes targeted the village of al-Iskan in the western Afrin countryside. At least five air strikes were launched on the Faylaq al-Sham’s training camp.
The satellite imagery shows that a Turkish military base is located near the destroyed training area.
No casualties were reported, only material damage.

For the first time in years, the VKS hit targets located on the territory under the Turkish control in north-eastern Syria. This attack may lead to another round of escalation.
Faylaq al-Sham is a Muslim Brotherhood-linked pro-Turkish group. Some fighters who train in its camps later go on to fight on the western Aleppo front against the Syrian Army. It is known to play the intermediary role in the financing of most of the pro-Turkish forces in Syria as well as in sending of Syrian mercenaries to other regions.

The Russian VKS had a busy morning. Among other targets of Russian warplanes, there were militant positions in southern Idlib near the village of Sufuhun, as well as ISIS hideouts in the desert area of as-Sukhna in the east of Holmes.
