The Russian military has broken another record. According to reports by various Russian military sources, Su-35S fighter jet of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down Ukrainian MiG-29 at a distance of more than 200 km.
Ukrainian aircraft was reportedly attacked by the Russian R-37M long-range air-to-air missile, which covered a record distance of 213 kilometers. This is reportedly the record distance of destruction of a target by an aircraft missile.
The MiG-29A fighter of the Ukrainian Air Force was reportedly spotted by Russian pilots at a distance of about 270 kilometers. The Ukrainian aircraft was struck when it was preparing to launch the US-made AGM-88B Block 3 HARM anti-radar missile. As a result of the strike, the target disappeared from Russian radar and did not come back to the Ukrainian airfield.
Currently, Russian R-37M hypersonic air-to-air missile is the most long-range guided air-to-air missile in the world. Its maximum range is 300 kilometers. The rocket has a launch mass of over half a ton, and the weight of its warhead is 60 kg. It is designed to destroy air targets, including enemy aircraft.
