The Russian General Staff reported that ‘opposition forces’ have violated the ceasefire regime 23 time since its implementation yesterday.
The US-backed ‘moderate groups’ have shelled both residential areas and positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA). As result 6 people were killed in Aleppo and 10 wounded.
“Syrian government forces have completely stopped [their] shelling, except for the areas occupied by ISIS [Islamic State/IS] and Jabhat al-Nusra militants. Unfortunately that can’t be said about the armed forces of the moderate opposition, backed by the United States,” Russian General Staff official Viktor Poznikhir added.
The 48-hour ceasefire in Syria supported by Russia and the United States started on September 13 at 16:00 GMT.
The ceasefire regime is a part of the peace plan agreed by US State Department Secretary, John Kerry and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on September 9 in Geneva. Delivering of humanitarian aid to besieged areas in Syria is a key comonent of the plan.
It’s important to note that the full text of agreement has not been released. So, the ceasefire is likely a merely tactical step of the sides before continuation of the competition over the solution of Syrian crisis.
Furthermore, a significant part of the US-backed ‘opposition’ (over 20 groups) have already rejected the ceasefire agreement.
